Visit MÄrten Trotzigs grÀnd or Alley of MÄrten Trotzig. Leading from VÀsterlÄnggatan and JÀrntorget up to PrÀstgatan and Tyska Stallplan, the width of its 36 steps tapers down to a mere 90 centimetres (35 in), making the alley the narrowest street in Stockholm.

Obelisk at Slottsbacken
The name Slotz hill appears as early as 1478 and meant not only the hillside itself but also the open space east of the Great Church. During the Middle Ages, the area south of the Castle was called Tre Kronor for Sanden (1422 widh sanden) and then formed a wide undeveloped gravel hill that stretched from Storkyrkan down to Saltsjön. South of Sanden was the castle's kitchen garden (see TrÀdgÄrdsgatan). In the 1470s, the name Stallbacken was also used due to the slaughterhouses that were located next to the current KÀllargrÀnd.

Storkyrkan
Storkyrkan, 'The Great Church', also called Stockholm Cathedral, is the oldest church in Stockholm. Storkyrkan lies in the centre of Stockholm in Gamla stan, between the Royal Palace and Stortorget, the old main square of Stockholm. It was consecrated in 1306 but construction of the church probably started in the 13th century. Inside, Storkyrkan still maintains much of its late medieval appearance in the form of a hall church with a vaulted ceiling supported by brick pillars.

Brantingtorget
The square was named after Hjalmar Branting and is located inside Förvaltningshuset (formerly Kanslihusannexet) which is bounded by Myntgatan, SalviigrÀnd, VÀsterlÄnggatan and Storkyrkobrinken. The building's buildings were demolished in 1945 in connection with the construction of the Chancellery Annex, which had been designed by Arthur von Schmalensee. Von Schmalensee's building has a circular cobbled courtyard with a diameter of just over 30 meters, below which is a garage. Inspiration came from the circular Police Station in Copenhagen built in 1924. The center of the farm is decorated by Ivar Johansson's sculpture "Morning" which was erected in 1962.

Brantingtorget can be reached by the public from VÀsterlÄnggatan via the former alleys KlockgjutargrÀnd, KolmÀtargrÀnd and StenbastugrÀnd which disappeared when Förvaltningshuset was built.
